Sometimes articles submitted to the presbytery E-Newsletter are longer than space allows and must be edited. In editing, care is taken to include the main facts of the story but occasionally important items are omitted. In last week's article on the Presbyterian Student Association, it was not mentioned that Second Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg provided space for the college students to eat, meet, worship and sleep. Converse College provided the showers. To read the entire article as submited by Dottie Metropol, you may click on this link. |

Congratulations to the Rev. Vince Alig, pastor of the Walhalla Presbyterian Church, on the publication of his book, All the Paths of the Lord. This book is a fictional story of a young family seeking to know God more personally as they travel to Australia to pioneer the birth of a new church. The needs, triumphs and tragedies of the people they meet are God's unexpected answers to their search. All the Paths of the Lord is a fast-paced and engaging spiritual adventure which will both entertain and inspire you. This paperback book is available on Amazon.com. |

FaithPoint Presbyterian Church, the new church development of Foothills Presbytery, is ready to have its first community event in the West Simpsonville area. They are planning a spring party to meet folks in the area and to help build community among neighbors. They want to introduce folks to other Presbyterians in Foothills Presbytery. The party will be April 25, 11:00 am until 3:00 pm, at the Long Creek Plantation Clubhouse (off of Rocky Creek Road in Simpsonville). They really need your help to make this a successful event. Some items needed are tailgating tents and games like volleyball, badminton, etc. They also need outdoor game supplies for children (parachutes, beach balls, frisbees, etc, etc.) They also would love to borrow popcorn makers, sno-cone machines or cotton candy machines and would love to have face painters on hand. Most of all they need volunteers to come eat, play, and be a friendly face to help introduce FaithPoint Presbyterian Church to the people of West Simpsonville.

| "Grow Christ's Church Deep and Wide" |
Presbytery of Tampa Bay has a project underway called the REACH initiative - it is designed "to reach new disciples for Christ." It is an effort to reverse the downward trend of church membership and to lead churches "outside of themselves." St. Andrews, one of the churches in Tampa Bay, is engaged in significant outreach and evangelism by doing simple things that connect with people: holding free car washes and water bottle giveaways, providing free lunch to emergency workers, and painting the home of a person in need. They say, "Churches that are growing are outward oriented and not inward oriented." "Growing churches are focused on the people who are not yet in the church." This is all part of General Assembly's commitment to "Grow Christ's Church Deep and Wide."

| Camp Buc Work Day 2009 |
|
(Just imagine resting here on the porch at Camp Buc after a morning spent helping out getting camp ready for the summer. What a treat!)
Every spring Camp Buc designates one Saturday to be Camp Buc Work Day - a day devoted to cleaning up and repairing the camp site in preparation for the upcoming summer camping season.
This year that day is going to be April 4. Work should begin around 9:00 but earlybirds are welcome. Make the trip to Sapphire, N.C. and experience the beauty that is Camp Buc. There will be projects for skilled and unskilled workers - something for everybody to do. Lunch will be provided for everyone.
We hope you will come! Be sure to contact Barbara Huett and let her know how many you will bring so she can count you in the lunch number. You can call her at 828-966-4715 or email barbara@bucandfellowship.org.
