GROWING CHRIST'S CHURCH DEEP AND WIDE | |
Congregations around the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) are engaged in innovative outreach programs in order to "Grow Christ's Church Deep and Wide" - a churchwide emphasis adopted by the 218th General Assembly (2008) to help congregations grow through evangelism, discipleship, servanthood and diversity.

What better way or place to demonstrate how we can "grow Christ's Church" than during a week of Bible School. Many churches have already held their Bible Schools and others will come up later in the summer. Almost every Bible School has a mission project that they encourage the children to support during the week. Several churches this year decided to make InDwellings their mission focus. InDwellings is an agency that is working toward building homes for mentally handicapped adults. Banks, like the one shown above, are available from InDwellings to be used for mission giving. Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church completed their Bible School last week and reported that they collected $845.65 from children, adults and the congregation during the week of the School for InDwellings. The children used the banks to save their money.
Tyger River Presbyterian Church collected $600 to adopt two orphans in Ghana. The children in Bible School hope to keep in touch with the boy and girl that they will be helping.
We would love to hear from you to find out what your mission project was this year and how your week of Bible School helped to "grow Christ's Church."

| COOPERATIVE MINISTRY | |
About 100 people gathered in Clinton in early June to learn more about cooperative ministry among small membership churches. The Linking for Ministry event was held in response to a renewed interest in cooperative ministry that can enhance the work and mission of churches with fewer members. The event was hosted by the Laurens County Cluster of Smaller Membership Churches and co-sponsored by several other organizations. Keynote speakers spoke about partnership in the gospel and congregational transformation. The Rev. Herb Codington offered eight practical steps to help churches take the first steps leading to cooperative ministry and mission ventures. |
