Good dues news! The dues percentage will remain unchanged for the Medical Plan traditional program and for seminary students in 2010. Dues for the Affiliated Benefits program will increase 2.5% in light of the specific claims experience of participating groups.
Benefit Promises Affirmed! A review of the Balanced Investment Portfolio, which ended the five-month period through May 31, 2009, with a 6.4% return, reassured the Investment Committee that reserves are adequate to keep the Benefits Plan's benefit promises.

| New President Installed at Montreat |
|
After serving 14 years as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Asheville, N.C., the Rev. Albert G. "Pete" Peery, Jr. has been installed as the 16th president of Montreat Conference Center. In the installation service, Peery was charged not only to be responsible for the management of Montreat, but "as a minister of Word and Sacrament to assure that the Word may be rightly proclaimed and the sacraments rightly celebrated there." In addition to being a pastor in several local congregations, Peery also has served a time on the national staff as a peace associate in Europe and a five-year term on the General Assembly Nominating Committee. |
| New Reservation Policy at S.C. Home |
The S.C. Home at Montreat is now taking reservations "one year in advance." Therefore, a group or individuals wishing to make a reservation to stay the same week in 2010 as in 2009 may make those reservations as they leave in 2009. This does away with the previous policy of taking reservations at 8 am on the first business day after New Year's Day. Reservations can be made up to 12 months in advance of the stay. Deposits of 50% of the reserved space will be due on January 15 of the year of the reservation. For groups (10 or more) the deposit may be refunded more than 90 days prior to the reservation. Family (less than 10) and individual reservations must be cancelled 14 or more days in advance of the arrival date to receive a refund. |
