2010 CROP Walk News

....if you offer food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness and your bloom be like the noon day.  Isaiah 58:10

CROP
There is hunger in a world of plenty. Hunger has reached an unbelievable high of 1.2 billion worldwide. Simply put, 1 in 7 people do not get enough to eat each day. Most live in the developing world, but hunger haunts us more each day right here at home as a result of the severe economic times. There are solutions. Working together ecumenically, we can change things. One way is to participate in the Upstate CROP Walk on February 28, 2010 - 2:00 pm - at Furman University. The CROP Walk planning team would like to invite all pastors to an informational breakfast to learn all about what a CROP Walk is and how your church can participate to help make a difference to the hungry. Breakfasts will be at 9 am on November 23 at First Spartanburg Church and on November 24 at Fourth Church in Greenville. Pastors are asked to attend and learn how your church can be a part of the Upstate CROP Walk. Mark your calendars now for the breakfasts and the CROP WALK.

On October 30 a retirement dinner was held at Fourth Presbyterian Church  to celebrate with the Rev. Bill Lancaster at his retirement. Over 100 people were in attendance to enjoy a "low country boil" dinner and to share with friends and family stories of Bill's work in the PC(USA). The Sparkle City Quartet provided beautiful music, and a PowerPoint presentation led folks through Bill's career as minister/writer/new church developer.
