| New West African Mission Workers visit
Foothills |
 |
|
Glen and Carol Hallead (pictured with Dale Rawlings, George
Reiter, Manella Calhoun, and Nita Reiter) are new mission
co-workers in west Africa. They will begin their service
August 18 centered in Accra, Ghana. Their responsibilities
cover five countries in west Africa. Members of the Foothills
Presbytery Ghana Partnership Team met with them while they
were here visiting the Westminster (Fernwood) Presbyterian
Church in Spartanburg and their friend Paul Petersen.
The Halleads were very glad to make contact with folks in
this presbytery before they are deployed. They will be able to
travel to Abitifi, where the Kwahu Presbytery office is
located, and to sites supported by Foothills Presbytery. They
may also be able to assist in procuring visas for Ghanaians at
the American Embassy at Accra.
The Foothills Presbytery office has contact information for
them if anyone needs it.

Foothills Presbytery Sending a Mission Team to New
Orleans |
|
|
|
A Foothills Presbytery mission team is being organized to
go to New Orleans in August to work with Presbyterian Disaster
Assistance (PDA) to save downtown houses before they are
bulldozed.
The PDA plea says, "The St. Bernard Parish (New Orleans)
has now decreed that all Katrina affected homes must be in the
process of being gutted or rehabilitated by August 29, 2006.
If not, they will be demolished. We are therefore making a
special appeal for work teams to come in July and August to
the Volunteer Villages in the New Orleans area."
The Presbytery Mission Team is organizing a group to go
August 20-26. Mission Team chair Dale Rawlings is going, along
with George Wilkes and Bill Lancaster. The team is registered
with PDA.
If you would like to volunteer for this trip, contact Dale
(864-940-1742) or Bill (864-288-5774). The group will be
staying in PDA pod housing (shown in picture) at Luling near
the New Orleans airport. Expenses for 12 will mostly be
covered by Mission Team funds. Minimum age is 18, and health
insurance and current tetanus shots are required. The web site
for more information is given below. New Orleans Relief Trip
